I was watching a video on YouTube saying that the Copyright Act 1976 protected you from copyrighted material. I did a little more research into this, and I found two different statements.
The first one said that you have to take this into court, and the decision of the judge determines whether it protects you or not.
The second one stated that "fair use" (see Section 107) was deemed okay by judges and you were protected.
I'm not sure which one is right.
posting copyrighted material online if you do not own the copyrights is illegal unauthorized distribution, not fair use
no it does not. People think it does but it does not
Fair use is making a Parody like Weird Al Yankovic
"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."
That's all for personal use, not for posting online and making it public.
